At this time of year, we are encouraged from all different sources to consider what our new priorities should be — some go as far as making commitments and resolutions. Perhaps all this encouragement is not entirely bad; a pastor will always say at the beginning of the year that it would be wise for those to make their relationship with God their #1 priority this year, or before making any commitments, ask themselves how it will support their priority of growing their relationship with God.
In Philippians 2, Paul instructs the young church in Philippi on all the important things they needed to give their attention to. Paul says it in this way: "Work out what Christ is working in." A great year is not necessarily measured by what we do, but who we are becoming. As followers of Jesus, may this come to pass for each of us this year.
