We’re excited to share a newly designed icon and refreshed colours with our community this September. In 2022, we updated our Core Values, and since then have gradually updated our overall design needs. As our logo was over fifteen years old, it was only natural to refresh this also.

We’ve worked closely with a local brand designer & illustrator, Jess Wilson — an artist in our church community — to create a design which could represent Living Waters. This process included discussion and input from our Council and Ministry Team and has been a wonderful chance to reflect on our name as a church, our history, and our future.

“Living Waters” is a language drawn directly from Jesus in John’s Gospel. Jesus is our source of life and hope. Jesus himself used the language of living water to describe the Holy Spirit — his very presence to us and among us.

With such vivid language, it’s no easy task to draw this lively and expansive imagery into a singular design. Our designer worked with the idea of an abundance of moving water to set a design direction. In Jess’ own words, “When painted on a canvas, this design portrays water in motion. While these colours tell a story together, each is beautiful in its own right — much like our community.” As we leaned into this design concept, it was clear that colour would play a big role in the effectiveness of the design, so the new colour palette has informed our overall design direction.

As we receive this new design as a community, we invite you to reflect on the artwork, and to ask what it may speak to you. As you reflect, remember Jesus’ promise in John 10:10 — “I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”
