A memorial will be held at Christian Life Assembly on February 17th at 1pm. A live stream will also be available for any unable to attend in person.
We know Doug's passing will move many, and have set up a "Reflections on Doug" page, where we invite you to share how Doug impacted you, or a special memory you hold.
The ACT Telethon in Kitimat, British Columbia, supports various community groups by raising funds on their behalf. The telethon was launched in 1979 when the Smiths first moved to Kitimat. Doug was the first host and it has continued ever since. Please consider a donation to the Kitimat Community Foundation in memory of Doug.
It is with sadness we share that Doug Smith passed peacefully into the presence of Jesus on the morning of January 9, 2024. After a long struggle with cancer, and further health complications more recently, Doug moved into hospice care over the Christmas period. Linda has been lovingly by his side, and they have been surrounded and supported by immediate family and friends throughout.
Doug served as Lead Pastor at Living Waters Church from 2006–2017, a period in which the church saw faith-filled health and growth. Prior to LWC Doug served as a pastor at Christian Life Assembly, and before that worked in both business and broadcasting.
Doug has had a profound impact on many, as a wonderful example of a Christian, husband, father, pastor, and friend. He is deeply loved and will be sorely missed, always remembered as a man full of the love and light of Jesus.
Doug was full of memorable and meaningful sayings, and one he often shared was that we should be "a people of welcome". We can rest assured he now knows the incomparable welcome of Jesus in the fullness of eternal life. A good pastor is in the hands of the Good Shepherd. "Well done, good and faithful servant…"
Please pray for Linda, the Smith children and their partners and grandchildren at this time.
