Both Paul and the Thessalonians would have expected persecution to be a part of the Christian life, and they certainly experienced it. As the Kingdom of God advances into the kingdoms of this world, we can expect to experience pushback. In our broken world, following Jesus always involves this clashing of kingdoms.
