Luke 22:39–46
A Model of Prayerful Trust, Part 2

By the time Jesus and his followers arrive at the Garden of Gethsemane, it seems that the anguish Jesus is feeling is too great for him to focus on much else. Jesus knows this is the night of his arrest, and the beginning of the cruelty he would face, before his death over the weekend.

What we see is that while Jesus was well aware of His own testing, He was also aware of a war that would rage, for the minds, hearts, and souls of His disciples, and this evening Jesus wanted them to be victorious over the temptations they were facing.
