Our text for last week zeroed in on Peter, one of Jesus’ closest followers. This week, we turn our attention to the Jewish religious leaders’ ongoing conflict with Jesus, as we shift to his hearing before the Sanhedrin — made up of the chief priests and teachers of the law. Jesus’ response to the religious leaders reveals that even now when he’s been arrested, abandoned, and beaten, he still is the one with authority and that he knows exactly who he’s dealing with.
