This Week at Living Waters!

Living Waters Church
LWC Newsletter • July 11, 2025
This Sunday

This Sunday

Through the summer, we're in a series called A Full Orchard, in which we're talking about life in the abundance of the Holy Spirit. This Sunday, our particular focus is on how walking in the Spirit cultivates peace. Kirsten Anonby will be teaching. We'll also be highlighting the awesome week we just had at Arts Camp, and sharing a Global Work update!

It's going to be an amazing Sunday full of worship, prayer, and community, and we can't wait to see you!

Arts Camp: Live It Out

Arts Camp: Live It Out

July 7–10

Arts Camp is an inclusive camp which inspires children to grow in their relationship with Jesus and to develop in their God-given imagination and gifting!

Over the week of camp, children learned and grew in relationship with God and others. Arts Camp was designed to promote curiosity and wonder in children about God, themselves, their world, and creation! This is done by creating safe spaces for friendship, fun, and laughter. Enthusiastic leaders encourage children to grow in their unique abilities through large and small group sessions, and fun activities!

Join us in prayer that the 160+ kids and 40+ leaders had an amazing week, encountered Jesus, and had fun!

Giving Platform Update

Giving Platform Update

Effective July 1, we've changed our online giving provider and are using a new church giving platform called Planning Center Giving!

Planning Center is a trusted platform we have been using for the past 7+ years to facilitate event registrations and payments, volunteer scheduling, and other helpful services. Going forward, we will also be using Planning Center Giving to facilitate online credit card donations, including online recurring donations. This will not impact other ways to give (e-transfer, in-person, etc.).

We have chosen this software because it will be easier for those who give financially to Living Waters Church. For example, Planning Center Giving allows donors to access their personal donation history, their charitable receipts, as well as personally make changes to payment methods and, of course, the frequency of giving.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Leigh Derksen, our Church Treasurer, at lderksen@lwchurch.ca, or Marion Godfrey, our Church Administrator, at mgodfrey@lwchurch.ca.

We are grateful for your generosity toward Living Waters Church. Learn more about ways in which you can give by visiting our Giving Page.

Exploring the Spiritual Gifts — Sunday, July 13 at 7:00pm

A Monthly Gathering for Young Adults

What were you made for?
Join us once a month as we explore the gifts God has placed within us — not just to understand them, but to live them out with purpose.

Through teaching, worship, conversation, and action, we’ll explore the three different categories (Head. Heart. Hands.) of Spiritual Gifts, how they function, their purpose, and how you might practice using the unique gifts that God has given you to serve the people around you.

You’re not just invited to learn — you’re invited to become. This is for anyone wondering:

  • What is my place in the Church?

  • What gifts has God given me?

  • How do I serve with authenticity and joy?

You don’t need to have it all figured out — just show up, be open, and come expectant. We can't wait to walk this journey with you!

River Baptisms

River Baptisms

Sunday, August 31 at 10:00am

Water baptism is a significant step in our faith journey. It's a public demonstration of our faith that Jesus models in the New Testament, and is symbolic of cleansing, death and resurrection.

Would you like to be baptized this summer? If you're interested in exploring water baptism, please talk with someone on our pastoral team and we'd love to journey with you!

Baptisms are happening next on Sunday, August 31 in between our two morning services. Come walk with us from Living Waters to the Marina Park boat launch to cheer on those getting baptized!

Greece & Turkey Bible Learning Trip

Greece & Turkey Bible Learning Trip

September 30 – October 14, 2025

New spots have opened up! Sign up today. This trip will be life-changing — making Scripture come alive through first-hand experience of biblical sites. It will include biblical teaching, worship, prayer, and fellowship.

The trip includes visits to Athens, Corinth, Thessaloniki, and Philippi — among other stunning sites such as Epidauros, Meteora, and Delphi. Here, participants will learn about the history and culture that shaped the various cities in which Paul preached — sometimes standing exactly where he stood. Then, through hearing Scripture and Rikk’s teaching, participants will be gripped by the gospel’s transforming power, not only in their world, but also in their own lives.

Crossing into Turkey, and after visiting Istanbul and the legendary city of Troy, the focus will be on the Seven Churches of John’s Revelation, which that same gospel produced. Looking around and having learnt about their individual backgrounds, participants will hear anew what the challenge of following Jesus meant then and now. The trip will conclude in Ephesus, where Paul, Acts, and Revelation intersect.
