New Year’s Day falls on a Sunday in 2023, so we’re inviting everyone to enjoy and explore community in a unique way!
Rather than holding a service on New Year’s Day, we’ll practice being a people of welcome and invitation in a couple of different ways:
Help us host “The Great Skate”! 11am-1pm
We’re renting the Langley Event Centre ice to host a free skate for anyone to join! So bundle up and invite someone to join. Family, friends, neighbours - everyone’s invited!
Make room for a friend!
If skating isn’t your thing, consider using January 1 as an opportunity to open your home or visit a friend who could use connection and support. Consider hosting brunch for a neighbour, going for a New Year’s Day walk with a friend, or imagine another way you could practice hospitality and generosity.
We invite you to consider who you might invite and involve in your life, and the life of LWC on the first day of 2023! Many people face loneliness and disconnection these days, so we want to be people who build bridges and make room.
And, though we’re not holding in-person services on January 1st, you can still join in with Church Connect at some point in the day and enjoy a wonderful New Year’s message from Kirsten Anonby.
We’re looking forward to a fantastic New Year’s Day together and hearing all the stories which come out of it!
