Joanna’s university career started at Simon Fraser University in 2009 where she first heard about UCM (University Christian Ministries). UCM became her home away from home as she was welcomed into a community of students who were also trying to figure out how faith and academics could go hand in hand. During her math degree, Joanna encountered Jesus in a fresh and dynamic way through UCM. After completing her Bachelor of Science, she sensed God calling her to step into full-time ministry role with UCM. She joined the BCIT (British Columbia Institute of Technology) staff team and has loved this community ever since!

On campus you will find Joanna meeting with a student over coffee, leading a small group Bible study or welcoming a new international student to Canada with a warm meal. She loves to walk alongside students as they wrestle with faith and life’s big questions. Joanna has a heart for hospitality and seeks to ensure UCM is a welcoming space for any student who attends. When not on campus, you’ll find Joanna outside enjoying creation with her husband. She loves to mountain bike, hike and teach Pilates on campus. She is always game for forming new friendships while being out in nature or bringing other’s along for some positive movement!
